Frustrated!!!!

I was 4 lbs below my "kill me now weight" last Thursday. This morning? I am right at that weight. I am so beyond frustrated. I am so tired of fighting with the same five lbs I could scream!

Changin it up, again!

Ok so, I have been doing some reading. The PA that saw my husband for his IR told us about a book called the 17 day diet. It is all about changing your body in 17 days and then maintaining that from then on. Obviously most of us will not get to where we want to be in only 17 days. The focus is more on making a small change each day and then keeping that change the following day as you add another. It is basically building blocks to become the healthiest you. I highly recommend it.

So this book talks about how you must arm yourself with knowledge about your body before you start your journey. One on the things you need to know is your blood type and how it interacts was with certain kinds of food.

This was very interesting to me. So, I did more research with a book, Eating for Your Blood Type, to figure out how Dave and I should proceed with our diet. Everything I found completely fit with our past medical problems and how our bodies have responded to our diets in the past. I found out was that Dave and I are opposite in what we should be eating. Dave should stick to protein and fresh vegetables, with minimal fruits and even less carbs. I should be eating more HEALTHY carbs, lots of fresh fruits and vegetables, and very minimal animal protein. This makes things difficult.

Dave is still under his original restrictive diet, and eating for his blood type fits very well into that. Mine, not so much. We are supposed to stop eating carbs at 1 p.m. So I am working on making some menu plans and as much as I don't want to I will be making two different breakfasts and lunches. I will stick to one dinner and cutting off carbs at 1. So Dave will stick with the same diet with lots of protein and minimal carbs. I will be front loading my carbs and calories, and getting my protein at dinner. 

I am hoping this will help me feel better because for the last week the diet has been wreaking havoc on my body. I decided that we just need to buckle down and get to our healthiest selves even if we have to take a little different paths to get there.

Plateau

Sorry it has been too long. The truth is I had kind of hit a plateau. I haven't seen any change in almost a week. I felt incredibly frustrated. I knew this would happen I just thought it wouldn't be so soon. I thought I would be closer to my goal first. 

But today I finally cracked it. I was so happy, because I was trying to stick it out but I was getting pretty discouraged. So here are some ways I used to break the plateau.

1. Drink tons of water- I have been drinking at least 14 glasses of water for the last three days. This is about 5 glasses more than my body requires. But, I feel a ton better. I have definitely been flushing out the toxins.

2. Do not go backwards- this one is so important! It is so easy to take a break from your workouts and especially your diet if you are not seeing results. You must stick it out. You don't want to undo any progress you have made. It isn't worth it. 

3. Limit salt- I have a sweet tooth through and through. I love all sweets. I can pas up chips, popcorn, and pretty much any salty snacks. But, I love salt on my food; breakfast, lunch, and dinner. These last few days I have not added any salt to my food. It has been hard, but I am learning to use other herbs and spices.

4. Change workouts- sometimes our bodies just need something new. I was using workout videos. The past few days I went to biking and jogging. It gave my muscles a bit of a break.

If you have hit a plateau, my heart goes out to you. It can be so discouraging. Just know that if you keep going, it is temporary.

Still here!

I am still here and doing great! This morning I was at my lowest weight since before Christmas, yay! My husbands new diet has given us a run for our money but I think we are finally settling in.

The best part of this whole thing? I feel so much better. I have been more productive, had more energy, and have been a happier mom and wife. I also sleep better, which is huge for me. I have struggled with sleeping since high school.

If you take care of yourself, even a little bit, I promise you will be able to make a much better difference in this world.

Changin it up!

Well I had this diet and exercise program worked out perfectly for me, so it figures that now I have to change things. It is not good to get too comfortable right? I had the diet worked out so that I saved most of my calories for the last half of the day, you know, to help with the afternoon cravings. I had my workouts planned so that I worked out in the morning every other day and then in the evening every other day, thus only having to wash my hair every other day. I was set up for success and as of this morning I am a pound less than my "kill me now weight!"

But, yesterday I got my curve ball. My amazing hubby has insulin resistance. He know has a strict diet and workout plan. Because we want to do this together, and his needs are medical, I will be joining him. 

Our new lifestyle now entails HIIT workouts every morning, followed by a glass of warm lemon water. Then a shower before breakfast to give the workout time to burn optimal fat and the lemon water time to reboot our digestive systems. We will also be following the breakfast of a king, lunch of a prince, dinner of a popper rule. And last but not least, no carbs after 1:00 in the afternoon. 

It is much healthier way of life but it will be a big adjustment for sure! But, I will do anything to keep my man healthy and happy for a LONG time. I kinda like him and want to keep him around😍.

Weekends!

Weekends get me everyone. I will be honest, fitness is not a priority for me on the weekends. And, I do not intend to change that. My goal every weekend is to spend as much time with my family as possible and make memories with them. This weekend we celebrated my son's birthday. It was a blast. I ate cake, ice cream, and went out to lunch with our little family. We also went to see the movie Home (I loved it) and I at popcorn and shared a drink with my husband.

What I am getting at here is that it is okay to round out your life. I don't want my kids to see me obsessed with weight and food 100% of the time. I want them to remember that I could let me hair down and play with them on Saturday morning rather than push their toys aside and workout. I took them for ice-cream and ate some myself. This morning I am back committed to my diet and workouts, because it is also important for me to stay healthy for my kids.

So, LIVE on the weekends. Spend time with your families and make memories. Don't party so hard that you undo what you did during the week. But I didn't count calories and I didn't work out Saturday or Sunday. Guess what? I am down 1/2 of a pound from Friday. Woohoo!!!!

Do what works for you!

Just because something works for one person does not mean it will work for another. I have always been told " breakfast should be your biggest meal of the day." I LOVE breakfast and I wake up starving. But, if I eat too many calories for breakfast I end up using up my calorie too early in the day. I cannot get through dinner on 100 calories. So, I try to keep it between 200-250 calories. I know it would be healthier to front load calories, but for me, I will just end up going over my calories and blowing my diet.
